One-day trip to North Ikaria
Departure from Agios Kirikos at 09:30.
First stop is the Monastery of Theoktistis. It is located after the village of Stavlos and before the source. The monastery has been operating since 1688 and today it has no monks. Around it there are various cells that were hostels and auxiliary spaces that served the monks. The Chapel of Theoskepasti is built in a cave covered with a huge rock and is an attraction for visitors to the island. Coffee, soft drinks and hot donuts are served in the courtyard by the lady who oversees the place. If he has time, he might tell the interesting history of the Monastery and how Osia Theoktistis arrived in Ikaria from Lesvos.
In the subsequent transition to Mesakti, the largest beach of the island for swimming. Also, there are various canteens and there are suitable infrastructures for water sports if the weather permits. After swimming, we will move to one of the most touristic villages of Ikaria, Armenistis. There you can enjoy food in one of the seaside taverns (1:30 hour stop).
